| The Watervliet Shaker Community | ||
| (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – ON SITE) | ||
Students begin in the Shaker Meeting House with an introduction about the history of the local Shaker community. During the walking tour of the site, we focus on daily life within the community. This includes a visit to the barn, plus a hands-on activity such as processing sheep’s wool or weaving on a loom. |
For students in Grade 3 and up, the tour also includes a visit to the Shaker apple orchard and the cemetery. This program is adapted for each class so that it is presented at an appropriate level for the students. |
