Learn about the techniques a local paranormal investigator uses in her investigations. You will also learn some of the basic analysis techniques and be provided with tips and suggestions on improving your ability to capture the most sought after evidence in paranormal research, the apparition.

Please note: Participants are able to register for one Session A and one Session B. An optional wrap up meeting will follow. 

Cost per person is $45.00 for the series. Pre-registration is required by March 1.
 

Hands to Work Day
Saturday, April 10 9:30-1:00 or 12:30-4:00

Put on your work gloves and help the Shaker Heritage Society get ready for the 2010 season. Activities will be available for all age and ability levels. We will have a potluck lunch at 12:30, so bring your appetite and a dish to pass.
Pre-Registration is required by Friday, April 10.

Shaker Oval Box Making – April 27 & 28
The workshop gives participants hands-on experience in making a nesting set of five oval boxes in cherry. Fee includes all materials, use of tools and an instructional booklet. The class is intended for both new and experienced woodworkers.

Build a Spoke Shave – April 28 & 29
As the name implies, spoke shaves are used to make wheel spokes. Yet this versatile tool can also be used to make chair spindles, broom handles or anything else with a cylindrical handle or curved surface.  This class will take participants through all of the steps in making a shave, shaping the wooden parts, cutting out the metal parts, tempering, sharpening, mounting and tuning and finally to making shavings.

Pottery Fest
Saturday, May 1 & Sunday, May 2 10:00am-
4:00pm

Explore the booths of dozens of potters and learn about the art and science of pottery. Guided tours of the site are available at 11:30 and 1:30 each day. 
Admission is $5.00 per person and supports the Empty Bowls organization.

 

Discover Ann Lee Pond
Saturday, May 22 11:00am and 2:00pm

Explore Ann Lee Pond through a guided nature walk. Discover the many plants and animals that call this area home. This is appropriate for all ages and is open to the public. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Groups will leave the Shaker Meeting House at 11am and 2pm. 
Suggested Donation: $5.00.

Find the perfect item for your home or gift for a friend at our Summer Craft Fair! Explore the booths of over 80 crafters on the grounds of the Shaker Heritage Society.  Jewelry, apparel, ornaments, household goods, toys and gourmet foods are among the most popular items. A Family Activity Station will host activities for all age levels and pony rides will be available on  Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. Site tours are offered on both days at 11:30 and 1:30.
Admission: $4 per person or $3 with coupon.

Sew a Reusable Shopping Bag
Wednesday, July 21 or Saturday, July 24 1:00am-
3:00pm

Whether you are a beginning sewer or an experienced seamstress, this class will enable students to create a practical and fashionable reusable grocery bag from start to finish.  Participants can provide their own fabric or select from a limited quantity on the day of the class. Pre-registration is required by July 16.
Cost per person: $15.00. (Fabric is not included.) This program is appropriate for ages 12 and up.

 

Make a Lavender Sachet
Wednesday, August 4 10:00am-11:00am

Explore the Shaker herb garden and discover the many ways that the Shakers used plants. Craft a fragrant lavender sachet to use at home or give as a gift.  Appropriate for ages 5-12. Parents or caregivers are encouraged to attend with the child. 
Price per child: $5.00.
Pre-registration is required by July 30.
 

 

Fall Harvest Craft Fair

Enjoy the outdoors as you explore booths representing over 80 different crafters at our Fall Harvest Craft Fair. Get an early start on your holiday shopping as you discover jewelry, jams, quilts, apparel, pottery, soaps and decorative items for your home. A Family Activity Station will feature activities for all ages throughout the weekend and pony rides will be available on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.  Site tours are scheduled on both days at 11:30 and 1:30.

Shaker Christmas Craft Fair

Find perfect holiday gifts for everyone on your list at our annual Christmas Craft Fair. Over fifty regional crafters are represented, offering thousands of items for your perusal. Jewelry, apparel, ornaments, household goods, toys and gourmet jams are among the most popular items. 
The Craft Fair is open Monday through Saturday
(closed Sunday) and admission is free.
